Umpires required for Compromise Rules

SWAFL needs four umpires for Compromise Rules on Saturday, Oct 16. Based on last year's format, one will be a field umpire sharing the field with the Gaelic Referee. A sideline umpire and two goal umpires. These are now paid positions. (amended 10 Oct 2010).

SWAFL 7's Preseason Tournament

In 2010, SWAFL is trialling a 7's tournament for the preseason. Devised by SWAFL Development Coordinator Lisa "Kiwi" Roper, this tournament is used to develop your players especially rookies and newer players in a friendly environment. Details of the rules and event is covered in the main part of the story. The tournament will be held on Saturday March 27.

Canadian Receipent interviewed by SWAFL.org

Earlier in 2009, SWAFL signed an agreement with the Alberta Women's Football League to bring a partnership together. One of the benefits of the partnership was an opportunity for an Australian player to go over to Alberta's premier football club: the Calgary Kookaburras. Under this opportunity, the successful applicant would assist with football development.

2010 AFL Coaching Courses

With the AFL National Policy stating that all coaches need to be currently accredited to coach at any level, AFL (NSW/ACT) will conduct courses throughout 2010. This will allow all new coaches and those coaches whose accreditation has expired to ensure that they are appropriately accredited for the season ahead.

Sydney AFL 2009 Annual Report

The Sydney AFL (men's) league released it's annual report during the week. One of the most interesting items is contained on page 44-45 which I encourage you to read. This is the capital works programme which showed $1.21 million was spent on HJ Mahoney Reserve over the last three years - the Home of Women's Football. Other grounds that SWAFL has/may play in the future is also included.
