The AFL Sunshine Coast Juniors Management Committee entered a new era on Monday 10th November because for the first time in 6 years, Adam Croxton will not be a member of the committee.
Adam has been a fantastic servant to the game on the Sunshine Coast since moving to Queensland in 1999. After several years on the committee and as President of Maroochydore JAFC, Adam stepped on to the league committee in 2003 and became President in late 2004.
During the time of Adams commitment to the Junior League’s Management Committee we have seen participation numbers soar and many administration and match day management changes installed for the betterment of the League.
Adam has always been passionate about seeing everyone given opportunity to play AFL football hence development of multiple age competitions (divisions) has been a driving mandate of his leadership.
In 2008, the AFL Sunshine Coast Juniors duly recognised Adam for his wonderful service to the game of AFL on the Sunshine Coast when he was awarded life membership to the league.
Stepping in to the Presidents shoes for 2009 is Joe Brennan- Joe has served on the Management Committee for the past 2 seasons and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience to the leadership role.
The league also welcomes back Anthony Neck, Kent Weightman, Chris Hunt and Sean McCabe as they continue their role in aiding the development of AFL on the Sunshine Coast. The league also looks forward to working with David Ward and Graham Fraser who have stepped on to the committee for 2009.
The 2009 committee has a wide spread of members from clubs across the coast- with each member bringing valued knowledge that will assist with the advancement of the league.
After the election of the 2009 committee, incoming President Joe thanked Adam Croxton, along with AFL Queensland staff and club delegates and volunteers for their efforts in 2008 and stated that he looked forward to working together in 2009.
Thank you to all who attended the AGM as we work towards another great year and the challenges that are presented.
Further to the AGM, the league will hold its annual Conference at Maroochydore Multisport Complex on Sunday November 23rd, commencing at 9.00am.
It is expected that two elected delegates from each club are in attendance who are well versed on their clubs views on agenda items for the meeting.
Topics of discussion will include strategic plans, sponsorship, 2009 competition structures, player eligibility, the AFL Junior policy, along with many other topical league issues.
