AFLSC aim to further develop the player’s skills while collectively best preparing these aspiring youngsters to fulfil their long term potential - whether that is AFL, NEAFL, or other levels of QAFL footy in being a long term senior player.
Coaching wise we have assembled a great crew across the three age groups. Selected coaches that provide us with vast AFL knowledge and experiences through their times, steering club footy and representative programs.
Our regions “Power” 14s assistant coaches Anthony Williams, Kris Brown and Nathan Trace with the regions Under 12 Schoolboy coach Allen Eade will take charge of Tuesday evenings 12s/13s group.
Youth boys 14s/15s and selected 16’s will have Coaches Steve Moody, Trevor Larkins and Sam Krushka steering the ship all having had key roles in our “Power” 14s and 16s teams this past year. Supporting these guys is the regions Under 15 Schoolboys Coach Justin Pritchett. While Lions Academy Sunshine Coast Coach, Ben Stanley will also be involved but first is to get married.
Things never seem to stop for the Youth Girls, Coach Stuart Jackson and able assistants Rachael Anstey, Stacey French and Shannon Campbell first need to get their Under 17s “Storm” team through the upcoming AFLQ State Championships. From there they will turn their attention to supporting our Youth Girl’s program. This program is more geared to those girls of 13 to 16 years of age seeking future representative opportunities in the 2015 School Girls Under 16s team.
SC Regional Manager, Paul Tresise said “it’s fantastic to have such a great and committed array of high level coaches involved in our programs. Having such a great depth of coaches committed to developing footballers to take the step to the next level, is outstanding”, Tresise said.
“The fact that we have attracted the regions three schools AFL program coaches for the 12s & 15s boys and 16s girls to assist in the operation of the SDP, is a huge bonus”, Tresise furthered.
Additionally a number of other key community coaches and senior club players have committed their support and involvement across the three programs. This will provide coaches a hands-on insight into AFLQ programs, allowing them opportunity to further develop their skills suitable for future coaching aspirations.
Steve Hadlow will coordinate our fitness work and training sessions. Tori Malthouse will be our program Sports Medic. Both Tori and Steve on hand to aid any injury maintenance and recovery work. The involvement of these two adds great professionalism to our program.
The AFLSC Summer Development Program runs for six weeks prior to Christmas and then four weeks in February 2015. Our regional AFL facility, Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex at Fishermans Road will host the programs with a start time of 5pm through to 7pm.
• 12s / 13s – Tuesdays starting November 11.
• 14s / 15s (and 16s) – Wednesdays starting November 12.
• Youth Girls - Wednesdays starting November 12.
There is a cost of $125.00, for the ten weeks of high level skill development with participants receiving a training singlet.
Participation opportunities are limited in each of the programs and already a large number of registrations have been made as many clubs actively endorse the program. So from here please be quick to secure your place.
To register your involvement we ask that you email suncoast@aflq.com.au and complete your wish to enhance your football development this summer.
It is also important to note this is purely a skills development program and although development will improve participant’s chances of making the 2015 Regional representative teams, by no means is that a given.
If there are any questions please do not hesitate to contact the SC office on 5451 0233 or suncoast@aflq.com.au
