The newest of the 18 AFL Clubs, Greater Western Sydney Giants, are embarking on their pre-season training camp on the Sunshine Coast next week.
The Giants will be staying in Noosa for the week, arriving on December 15 and will take part in a range of activities during the week around the area.
The Giants who have recruited well in the off season, gaining three experienced premiership players in Shane Mumford (Sydney Swans), Josh Hunt (Geelong Cats) and Heath Shaw (Collingwood Magpies), adding to their existing list of talented players including All Australian Full Forward and 2013 NAB Rising Star of the Year, Jeremy Cameron.
The Giants also boast 2011 number one draft pick, Jonathon Patton and this year’s number one draft pick and prized possession 17-year-old, Tom Boyd.
Nephew of former AFL Sunshine Coast Junior President David Ward, Callan Ward, will also be head-lining the Giants outfit.
Callan Ward lead the Giants in their inaugural year as Co-Captain in 2012 and 2013 and will no doubt be one to watch on the training track with his leadership and skill set this pre-season.
During the course of their camp the Giants will hold three open training sessions at the Noosa Tigers Australian Football Club at Weyba Road Noosaville.
Monday December 16 and Friday December 20 will be open training sessions with Wednesday December 18 the main session for fan interaction, including photos and signature opportunities.
All training sessions kick-off at 8am and will conclude at 10:30am so be sure to get down to Weyba Road on Wednesday December 18 to meet your favourite Giants.
It is a great opportunity to witness an AFL club go through their pre-season paces in our backyard and have a greater appreciation for what it takes to be an AFL player.
