The Sunshine Coast Storm Under 17 Youth Girls travelled to Griffith Moorooka on the weekend for a practise match against Brisbane South-East/Darling Downs Magpies.
In hot conditions both team fought it out, getting a feel for what to expect at the State Championships in three weeks time.
The Storm girls impressed with Coach, Stuart Jackson, happy with the girls' progress and hunger for the footy.
“We have been training for almost a month now and have had the ability this year to trim our squad which has strengthened the competition and sense of urgency to listen and be good footballers,” Jackson said.
“It was great to get the girls off the training track and on to the field against a pretty evenly matched side.
“We were really happy with how the girls linked together on the field with quick handballs, making quick and accurate decisions running out of the back line and pushing forward.”
Team captains and vice captains to be voted on this Wednesday at training which will provide the team with a leadership group for the final three weeks of training and the Championships.
The Queensland State Championships kick off on Friday November 1 at Yeronga and conclude on Sunday November 3.
A huge thank you to Jason and Tracey Patton who supplied a FREE BBQ for both teams after the practise match- Champions!
Also thank you to: Tiffany Harmen, Cassi Bell and Teegan Stevenson for runner water and messages to the Storm girls and Stuart Whitney for organising a bus for a few of the girls to get to Griffith Moorooka.
