Full name: Stu Jackson
AFL Team supported: Carlton (Don’t laugh, we still have 16 premierships – how many do you have?)
Number of years volunteering: In AFL –about 12 now.
Why did you get involved volunteering?
I’ve been playing footy for 32 years now. Footy is a great place to be involved in communities; things need to be done & I don’t mind doing them. There are great mates to be made, great rewards to be had (for everyone!)
What is your biggest achievement as a volunteer?
Helping kids have the opportunity to play, learn & develop into valuable citizens. The joy on kids’ faces when they ‘get it’ is pretty good too.
Tell us a bit about your day time job...
High school teacher…helping kids to learn & develop into (hopefully) valuable citizens.
What keeps you motivated volunteering and in every-day life?
Volunteering: the potential of kids – they are capable of amazing stuff! Everyday life: humans in general are pretty amazing.
