Down the road at the Demons Den, the place will be a buzz, with the locals coming out of the hills to cheer on the blue & gold as they do battle in two of the four games to take place that day.
The smaller field will make for teams wanting to go more direct and long, quick off the mark before congestion sets in. Taking control of the ball out of the centre on this field is always the way to go, so strong centre ball up set up is what coaches will have worked on.
Plenty of colour and loud positive cheer will make for a fantastic atmosphere on Sunday.
9am - Under 12 Division 2 Second Semi: Pomona V Maroochydore Gold
Pomona players to watch: Louis McDonough, Sam Tedford, Jonte Bevan, Zac Hennings, Tom Daddow, Jack Donnelly and the rest of the devils.
Maroochydore Gold players to watch: Joshua Fuller, Joseph Higginson, Jake Edgar, Caleb Wynne, Thomas Whittaker, Luke Walsh and partners.
Pomona have been the yardstick all season in this competition but a never say never by Maroochydore Gold may just be able to throw a spell over the demon.
Golden Roo Coach Anthony Walsh will have been planning for many a month as to how to bring down the Dees, so expect the unexpected I say.
Tedford, Daddow and Hennings have just been fantastic for the Dees and must be giving Walshy nightmares – stop them and he will go a long way to exorcising the Demons.
10.40am - Under 12 Division 1 First Semi: Maroochydore Green V Maroochydore Gold
Maroochydore Green players to watch: Noah Cumberland, Adam Kerle, Ethan Bidmade, Bailey Johnston, Kalani Wulf, and others.
Maroochydore Gold players to watch: Tarj Townson, Liam Dorazio, Thomas Holt, Arch Horton, Taylen Merton and the rest of this mob.
Next on centre stage is a mob of Roos bounding in from two different clans. Will it be Green or will it be Gold who are to move forward to preliminary Final action?
Only the once during season twenty12 did they face off against each other and on that occasion we had the Green Roo skip away with it 10.3.63 to 5.6.36, not a lot in it when you look at shots on goal. Noah Cumberland 4 goals and BOG is the yardstick for his Green team whilst Tarj Townson is the like for the Golden Roo and that day of combat he kicked two goals whilst being adjudged the best for his team.
12.20pm - Under 16 Division 2 First Semi: Coolum Beach V Glasshouse Hinterland
Coolum Beach players to watch: Liam Moyle, Luke McKinney, Luke Ainsworth, Sam Brackley, Joel Witheyman, Thomas Maher, Jack Aubrey, Callum Hewitt.
Glasshouse Hinterland players to watch: Nathan McCombe, Adam Lillecrapp, Billy Blacker, Ben Flieter, Daniel Osberger, Aiden Titheridge, Hughb McIntyre.
Coolum Beach are a team capable of taking out the Premiership in this competition if all goes well on match day, they play with a lot of heart and commitment to the Blue, Red and White. The Breakers have had the wood over a Glasshouse Hinterland team whom have done it tough over season 2012 basically they fought of North Shore for the last spot in the finals by percentage.
But guess what they are there and well ‘stuff’ can just happen on any given day in footy! They just need to get a full unit on the paddock, fit and firing to go with plenty of petrol in the tank. Something that hasn’t been common over the season. Their big workhorse Nathan McCombe will never say never and if he can get enough Lions up and raring to go watch out for who jumps in behind him to grind the wheel.
Likewise in the other camp the big frizzy Liam Moyle also always rises to a challenge.
Expect Glasshouse to give their all from the opening bounce and if they can reel in the Breakers from the get go, get some energy going about their footy this game will be alive to the bitter end.
2.30pm - Under 14 Division 2 Second Semi: Pomona V Coolum Beach
Pomona players to watch: Luke Gerring, Cody Burdon, Billy Tedford, Luke Maymuru, Dylan Kalin, Joel Schultz, Tom Combes, Josh Hennings, with others.
Coolum Beach players to watch: Ash Boykett, Jack Mullett, Rohan Ward, Sam Fowles, Elliott Smith, Jordan Gregory, Jared Witheyman, Jarrod Trahar and friends.
Finally to see out the day Pomona we have the home team back on the paddock v the Breakers of Coolum Beach in the Under 14 second semi final; the winner gains direct passage into the Grand Final whilst the other team fights on next week.
This Pomona team like their little brothers were the yard stick of this competition, and across four season games v Coolum Beach won on all occasions. In review of the score lines it was never just easy points, 36, 61 and then finally in round 16 – 20 points indicate that if on their game these Breakers can be well within a match against the Dees.
So all in all, you are guaranteed to witness a fantastic day of footy at the Demons Den, so remember: cheer loud and positively as you witness many quality teams doing battle in what will be a number of epic games proudly bought to you by the Dees.
