The thoughts of the AFL Sunshine Coast family are with Maroochydore Under 16 player Chris Richardson as he undergoes surgery in his battle against osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer.
Chris, a long-time Maroochydore Junior was recently diagnosed with osteosarcoma and after months of chemotherapy, Chris underwent surgery on July 24 to replace parts of his leg and his knee with titanium.
He will have more chemotherapy to follow.
Chris loves his footy, and was delighted to have received two visits in hospital over the past months from Brisbane Lions champion Jonathan Brown.
Just prior to his surgery Chris and his family also enjoyed a wonderful trip to Melbourne to watch the Hawks v Collingwood game at the MCG courtesy of a family friend.
Chris' determined and courageous spirit will no doubt see him overcome this hurdle in his life.
Please visit www.chris.org.au for more information on how you can show your support for Chris and his family.
News is that Chris got through his surgery well and now begins the long road to recovery.
