Our Bulleen Boomers mens team have gone down to Sunbury 73 - 91 in Game 2 of their Division 1 grand final series, so the Jets have taken out this year's title.

The Boomers went into this series full of confidence, having beaten the Jets at home in both the final game of the regular season and in the qualifying final.

In game 1 last week, it was nip and tuck all the way, with the Boomers going down by only 5 points - so the boys were really looking forward to the chance to take on the Jets at the Veneto Club with that crucial home court advantage for games 2 and 3.

Unfortunately, just nothing came together for the Boomers last night - after an even first quarter, the Jets went ahead in the second period with better shooting and offensive execution. For the rest of the game the Boomers played catch up, but Sunbury had all the answers to run out comfortable winners.

Both teams were pretty even in field goal attempts and percentage, but the Boomers were woeful from the stripe, making only 7 from 23 free throws - this pretty much made the difference over the game.

It's a loss this time around, but the team have had a great season and ultimately went down to the form leaders over the season. Well done to the boys and our Big V team will be back bigger and better in 2010 to give it another crack.
