Coaching Director Appointed – Grant Wilkinson

Woodville Basketball Club would like to announce the appointment of Grant Wilkinson in the role of Coaching Director.

The coaching director role will handle all matters coaching at Woodville and in our network.

This will include training & development, recruiting, appointments and a consistent approach to coaching in our player development pathways.

Grant is currently living on Kangaroo Island, but will be making the move back to Adelaide soon.

Whilst still living on Kangaroo Island, Grant will complete most of his tasks in planning offline, with regular trips to the mainland to become more hands on with the role.

Grant has a wealth of knowledge and experience in sports coaching and in particular with basketball.

Grant played Under 14s to Under 20s with Sturt Basketball Club and represented the state in school boys rep and U18s.

Coaching experiences has seen him as the Southern Districts / Adelaide Southern Suns coaching director, whilst also attending the World tour of Basketball Australia led by AIS coaching director Pat Hunt in 1997, where time was spent at the University of Arizona and in professional clubs in Italy, Croatia, Slovenia and in Russia with the Russian girl’s youth team.

Outside of Basketball, Grant has spent some time building successful Football clubs from scratch over the years as well.

Grant and his role will help Woodville District Basketball Club continue to move forward with providing its players the best possible and most consistent coaching.

It will also help the club to open up further opportunities for our coaches and those passionate about coaching.

We are very lucky to have Grant and his wealth of knowledge at our disposal, we welcome him on board and wish him all the best in his time at our club.
