BasketballSA update on the 2010 Grand Final Schedule
The following information has just come through from Basketball SA regarding upcoming Junior Grand Finals:
In previous years, the Grand Finals for the Junior Division 1 competitions have been scheduled on a Sunday, and a mass presentation ceremony for the winners of all divisions has been held immediately following the last grand final.
Basketball SA has received many requests to avoid scheduling both grand finals and a presentation ceremony on the Sunday, because:
For people who have other commitments on Sundays (including those involved in other sports or who attend church), it forces families to make a difficult choice between commitments
For people who play their grand finals on Thursday/Friday/Saturday, it is inconvenient to have to return to a stadium simply to be presented with a trophy
As such, after consultation with clubs, the Competitions Committee has determined that this season, all grand finals will be scheduled on the same day that the competition is usually played, and that presentations for winners and runners-up will occur for each grade immediately following the Grand Final.
A schedule for all finals will be available in the next week.
