2 March: U18 Nationals update
Dan Carlin top scored for South Australia in their bronze medal game at U20 Nationals last weekend. U20 State teams combine metro and country into a single state team. At the U16 & U18 level there are 2 representative sides, 1 from South Australian Metro and 1 from Country.
The U18 teams were named this past weekend for U18 Men, Women Metro and Country sides. Centrals had 2 players make the squads, narrowly missing out on selection in the team of 10. Tom Giles (U18 Div 1 Men) and Brianna Wedding (U18 Div 1 Women & U23 Div 1 Women) have been selected as Reserves. They will train with the team right up until they go away. If there are any injuries in the leadup as there often are these players have a chance to travel to Nationals to play with the team.
This years U18 Nationals are in Tasmania during April. Centrals Coaches’ Stephen Patterson (Lions U16 Div 1 Girls Coach, U18 SA Country Head Coach) and Andrew Jantke (Boys Coaching Director, U18 SA Metro Assistant Coach) are also involved in the Championships.
