U/18 STATE BASKETBALL SQUADS HIT THE HIGHWAY

The South Australia Country State U/18 Men’s and Women’s teams will travel to the small Yorke Peninsula Coastal town of Port Vincent on the 14^th-15^th of March to conduct a week-end training camp in a lead up to the Australian National Junior championships to be held in Adelaide this April.

The teams will train twice a day at the Minlaton Basketball stadium, with morning sessions taking place from 9:00am-11:00am and the afternoon sessions occurring from 2:00pm-3:30pm.  Athletes will also under take fitness assessments and team aquatics sessions over the course of the weekend.  The emphasis is on team skill development through intense drill work in small groups, along with optimizing the performance of the body through the execution of advanced strength, movement, and endurance programs.  

Both teams will also play an exhibition series at the Minlaton Basketball Stadium on the Saturday evening with the women’s game kicking off at 6.00pm and the men’s game at 7.45pm.  The women will play an Senior All-Star team made up all Northern Assocations, whilst the men will fight it out with the ADF (Australian Defence Force) State team. 

The Road show continues for the U/18 Squads the following month, with a trip to the Spencer Gulf City of Port Pirie.  The Men’s and Women’s teams will compete in the Port Pirie Senior Blitz held over the weekend of the 4^th-5^th of April at the Donaldson Stadium in Port Pirie.  Senior Association combined teams from Port Pirie, Whyalla and Port Augusta will compete in this invitational series.
