Our community is becoming increasingly diverse as people from a refugee background and migrants settle in South Australia.

ARA has developed a series of cultural competency workshops to ensure organisations and their employees are skilled when working with people from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background.

By undertaking this training, participants will gain the following:

  • Gain a better understanding of the complexities of culture;
  • Explore participants’ underlying judgements, attitudes and values and how they can influence cultural interactions;
  • Provide a framework for participants to work effectively with, or provide services for, people from different cultural backgrounds;
  • Gain an understanding of the refugee experience and how to work effectively with people from refugee background;

The Australian Refugee Association (ARA) has been working with people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities for more than 30 years.

During this time, we have experienced waves of migration from different parts of the world, including Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

ARA is often called upon to provide advice and training on how to effectively and appropriately work with people from different cultural backgrounds, providing cultural competency training to schools, government and non-government agencies, child care centres, service providers, local councils and companies.

ARA is an approved SA Government Multicultural Awareness Training Provider.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
