Life Membership - Bert Bargeus
Bert, who is the retiring Executive Officer, was awarded for his contibution to SA Country Basketball over the last 14 years. During that time he has been a Team Manager, Umpire, Eastern Hills Secretary/Treasurer, Country Cup State Manager, Country Cup Director, Regional Supervisor, BSA Commission Member as well as the Executive Officer. He has also represented SA Country at numerous meetings with sporting organisations and Government departments.
Ray Cadd, President of SA Country, congratulated Bert on the award and commented that his efforts during time as Executive Officer have contributed significantly to the progress and financial well being of SA Country Basketball. Bert in his acceptance speech thanked his family, Jason Bald, Peter Todd, the Council Executive and the affiliated Associations for their support and friendship.
Bert is only the 5th Life Member of SA Country Basketball. Other Life members are Leo Sheehan, Gary Carlson, Hayden Duffield and Beth Serle.
Bert will continue to serve SA Country in a voluntary capacity as its Country Cup director and BSA Commissioner.
