Thank you, Bert Bargeus!
At our Annual General Meeting on Saturday, SA Country Basketball President Bert Bargeus stood down from this role to allow more time to focus on his other roles and his family. Bert has been President since 2010, shortly after his retirement as Executive Officer.
Bert has been a tireless worker throughout his time as President, serving on Governance and Finance committees as well as being actively involved in all matters relating to the Council Executive and leaves large shoes to fill.
Bert will continue as SA Country Nominated Commissioner on the Basketball SA Commission as well as Country Cup Director.
In accordance with the SA Country Constitution, nominations to replace Bert were sought from within the Council Executive and Andrew Thomson (Yorke Valley) was the only nominee and is the new SA Country President for the balance of the existing term (12 months).
