Message from the new President

Bert Bargeus

A message from the new President of SA Country Basketball Council Inc.

Dear Members

At its AGM last Saturday I was elected unopposed as the President of SA Country Basketball Council for the next 3 years. It is fair to say that I am extremely honoured and proud to take up the position.

When I retired last year as the SA Country Executive Officer I was happy to continue in any voluntary capacity – I did not expect to end up as President.

In accepting the position I would like to thank our outgoing President Ray Cadd for his time and efforts whilst in office. Ray has seen us through some difficult times over the last ten years and he has done it in a very professional manner.

For most of Ray’s time as President I was the Executive Officer and he was a great help to me with his availability, guidance and support.

Even though I live in the metro area my heart and soul will always be in the country.

One advantage of living in the metro area is that it will give me the opportunity to be more of a “hands-on” President to support our paid staff and to be involved in Committees such as the SA Country representative on the BSA Commission.

As Ray was in his time I intend to be available to any member or Association if there is any issue that needs attention or input from the President.

At our meeting on Saturday the new 3 year Strategic Plan was approved and it gives SA Country a good framework to continue the good work of the past and to move forward particularly in the area of increased Association support.

I also extend my congratulations to the following Vice Presidents who were elected on Saturday – Beth Serle, Cathy Warren and Peter Seebohn.

Special thanks to Valda Pain who was one of our Vice Presidents.

Also elected at the meeting was Suzie Rosenzweig as the Regional Supervisor for the Mid North Region.

Regards

Bert Bargeus.
