AUSTRALIND BASKETBALL REFEREES

Anyone interested in participating in a COMMUNITY REFEREE COURSE (old Level O) should write their name and contact details on the back of the team nomination form in the space provided. Australind welcomes both junior and senior participants – including coaches. This Association is also prepared cover the cost of running this course.

New referees must be available to referee of a Monday in the Junior competition and also the Under 10 competition. New referees are mentored/partnered by senior referees and High School aged youngsters who are capable of giving assistance. Particpants must:-

q  Provide their own whistle – we encourage the use of a Fox 40 pealess whistle which we sell for about $8.50 inclusive of a lanyard.

q  Wear black shorts with no other trim.

q  Wear a green shirt that is provided by this Association.

q  Attend Community Referee Theory course – this is usually staggered over 5 – 6 sessions

Prospective dates at the moment are:-

Thursday October 13              9.30am – 12.30pm

Monday October 17                same times

All referees who have had a Level O accreditation for two or more years are encouraged to participate in a Level 1 course. Out of interest, our current holders of a Level 1 should endeavour to participate to keep up to date with rules/interpretations. Game payments for 2011/2012 may be geared to upgraded skills.

Dates at the moment are:-

Thursday October 13              9.30am – 12.30pm

Monday October 17                9.30am – 12.30pm

Both sessions are in the meeting room at LLC.

For all Refs other than New Refs there is a Rules Update Session on Wednesday 19th of

October at LLC from 6.45pm sharp to 9.00pm. Please bring a biro and a copy of rules for

2010 that have been downloaded from FIBA.

I am happy to work in with participants with regard to days and times just so long as we can get a venue.

I would also like to get much of this training out of the way before the season commences as October/November is going to be very busy.

Could you please contact me and register your interest in any of these courses asap.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
