Event Details
Previous participants in the sport of Beach Volleyball at the Arafura Games have included Thailand Australian Defence Organisation and Queensland these teams are expected to return in 2009. Teams from Malaysia, Vanuatu and Samoa have also been eagerly awaiting the return of Beach Volleyball to the Arafura Games schedule.
Separate men's and women's competitions will again be offered. One entry per competition per region can be accepted. Entries must be endorsed by the relevant State or National Volleyball Association.
Tournament format will be determined based on the number of entries received. Due to the popularity of this event it is recommended that teams intending to enter do so early.
Subject to final appointment of Referees for the competition teams may be required to assist with officiating (second referee or scoring) throughout the competition. The competition is also a great opportunity for official's development. Any team not able to meet this requirement must contact the co-ordinator as early as possible. Teams wishing to bring a referee are appreciated.

Event Rules
The tournament will be played in accordance with Federation of International Volleyball (FIVB) rules in force at the time of the event, except where modified by the event organisers.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much will transport cost?
The Arafura Games Organisers will provide bus transfers for all teams on arrival and departure in Darwin. An official Games shuttle bus service will operate free of charge between accommodation houses and training and competition venues for all accredited participants.
What about accommodation for my team and officials?
Darwin has a variety of accommodation to suit all budgets, tastes and special requirements. Almost all of Darwin's accommodation houses are located close to the Central Business District (CBD) and a short drive from sporting venues.
