Event Details
The Arafura Games Triathlon will be held on Sunday 10 May. Race start time is 7 am. The event consists of a 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run. On Sunday 10 May, transition and check-in will open at 5.30 am. All competitors must be checked in and numbered before entering transition. Alec Fong Lim Drive will be closed from 6.30. Competitors and spectators are advised to arrive early. Overflow parking will be available at Colivas Rd.
Event Location
Scenic East Point Reserve is where all the triathlon action takes place. The transition area is located beside the amenities block at Lake Alexander. Lake Alexander is a salt water, man made lake. The water temperature is such that wet suits are not allowed at this event. The 1.5km swim is traditionally a two lap, triangular course. The cycle course is conducted over local roads. We have arranged full road closure for this even. The cycle course takes riders up Gardens Road and back again with a designated turnaround point located close to the amenities block inside the Reserve. Cyclists will complete the loop 4 times. The 10km run follows the Fannie Bay coastline.
Event Rules
The event will be conducted in accordance with Triathlon Australia Race Competition Rules. These may be viewed at www.triathlon.org.au or at compulsory registration.
Cut off time
A cut off time will apply to the cycle leg of the course. Roads will re-open at 10.00. All competitors will be required to complete the cycle leg of race before this time.
