Lady Hawks Land Athletic Import

Ringwood Lady Hawks Head Coach Tim Mottin headed to Melbourne airport on Saturday morning and picked up what he hopes is the finishing touch on a squad he hopes will be more than competitive in the new elite basketball League.

The new league will soon have a name and a logo, but that hasn’t stopped Mottin from assembling what on paper looks to be a very impressive and talented line up. His latest addition will provide inside scoring, rebounding and much needed athleticism, and is comfortable playing the Power Forward or Centre position.

Born in Maryvale Arizona, Megan Mullings has packed plenty of basketball experience in her 26 years on the planet. After joining her High School team at Cactus High School, she quickly became a star, setting a school record with 61 blocks for the season whilst leading her team to 20 wins and just 4 losses.

After graduating High School, Mullings headed off to Junior College at South Mountain Community College where she quickly turned heads, winning the Female Athlete of the Year and started catching the attention of the bigger 4 year schools. With two years left of college basketball eligibility, Mullings then accepted a scholarship at the University of Alaska Anchorage where she took her game and her team to another level.

She enjoyed two great seasons in Alaska and won a swag of individual awards, including Conference Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference, D2 All American honors and all this on a team that went all the way to the National Championship game.

Mullings' basketball journey continued on as she headed to Finland to play for Peka and then Luxembourg to play for Wiltz, having great success at both Clubs. All this experience has prepared Mullings well for what will be her toughest and hopefully most enjoyable experience yet in Australia.

“I am so excited to be here in Ringwood, Australia.” Mullings said as she pushed through the jet lag.

“I love the sun, I love the beaches and I cannot wait to hit the court with the girls and see what the season has in store for us.”

“Ohh and my sister wants me to send her a Koala and some Tim Tams so I will start working on that.”

The Lady Hawks are now in full swing with their pre-season preparations and Mullings will join the girls for her first on court session on Tuesday. She will be joining a new look roster that is hoped will still have one more marquee signing in the near future.
