Hawks Bounce Back To Form

There was clearly a different focus on the faces of the Hawks players as they took the court and after just five minutes in to the first quarter, the packed Rings stadium had no doubt that the Hawks were ready to stamp their authority on the game. It was Matthew Snow who turned back the clock and put on a memorable passing clinic to get the Hawks rolling.

Snow (16 assists) sliced and diced the Broncos defense with his pin point passing setting up Shaun Clarke (21 points and 12 rebounds), Jacob Gibson and Scottie Stone who all finished off his good work.

A 7 point quarter time lead quickly ballooned to a 12 point half time lead with Gibson (23 points) and Stone (21 points) still finding open shots. Anything they missed was quickly picked up by Matt Fennell who had a great all round game with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists.

The Hawks never looked back as they cruised to their 8th win of the season, managing to play all 12 players on their roster. It was the first time this season that the Hawks were able to have all 12 players in uniform and close to full health.

“It was nice to have everyone available but we still have a few niggling injuries that we are managing.” Hawks Head Coach Ken Harrington said.

Harrington also pointed to the fact his team has some improvement left in them, particularly at the defensive end of the court.

“Defense was a dirty word tonight for both teams and we need to improve in that area, it will be a focus this week.”

Although the season is just half way, the Hawks face a possible season defining two games this weekend. On Saturday night the will host the Keilor Thunder who are 2nd last on the Big V ladder, but are a very talented team and then on Sunday afternoon travel to Hawthorn to play the 6th placed Magic who have been in great form lately. Saturday's game tips off at 8pm.

RINGWOOD HAWKS 115 (Gibson 23, Stone 21, Clarke 21, Fennell 21, Osborne 9, Truman 6) Defeated HUME CITY BRONCOS 95 (Jeka 28) at the Rings in Ringwood.
