With only one more game to go to complete the roster, the results from these games will be crucial for a few teams. In the Women’s Competition, Penguin and Somerset will be fighting for second spot. Wynyard and Devonport are currently locked in fourth and fifth spot on the ladder.

The Men’s Competition is similar with Latrobe and Penguin equal in second and third, while Ulverstone and Smithton will be fighting for fourth spot.

In an upset, Devonport managed to defeat Somerset by 7 points in a high standard game. The Heat led by just 1 point at three quarter time, however, the Warriors took control in the last quarter to set up an important victory. Paige French had a good game top scoring with 18 points, while Abbey Payne was the best for Somerset with 13 points.

Penguin women proved too strong for Burnie. Penguin’s offence allowed them to create better scoring opportunities. In an even team performance, Penguin’s Marnie Shephard scored a solid 17 points. Burnie’s Bec Heald continued to score well with a game high 18 points.

Ulverstone women cemented their position on top of the ladder with a convincing 34 point win over Latrobe. In an even team performance Molly Synott led all scorers with 17 points.

Wynyard had a convincing 34 point win over the Saints. Wynyard’s defence restricted Smithton’s ability to score and created many turn-overs. Wildcats Chloe Haines led all scorers with 16 points.

Ulverstone men found their mojo to upset Latrobe by 8 points. A good crowd witnessed a high standard, fast paced game that was well officiated. This was a very important win for Ulverstone to keep their finals chances alive. Harry O’Neill and Jack Triffett had big games scoring 34 and 33 points respectively.

An undermanned Penguin team made it difficult for Burnie to get their offence running in the first half. Without experienced players Ryan Cook and Tyler Kelly, Penguin did a good job to lose by only 25 points. Fraser Eaton led all scorers with 18 points while Wes DeBomford was the leading scorer for Burnie with 14 points.

Devonport got back on the winners list with a solid 10 point victory over Somerset. The Warriors set up their win with a good third quarter effort to lead by 13 points at three quarter time. Tyler Coffey dominated the scoring with 23 points. Warriors Matt Beuermann was their leading scorer with 19 points.

Smithton had a 22 point victory over Wynyard. Brad Hardy put on a very good shooting display, scoring 34 points. The Saints tight defence, restricted Wynyard’s ability to run their offence. Stuart Lee was the top scorer for the Wildcats with 11 points.
