Ulverstone women where far too strong against a disappointing Devonport. Ulverstone set up their win with a 20 – 9 first quarter. Shelby Rayner was the outstanding player with 19 points, while Taylor Mole performed well for Devonport with 17 points.

Penguin women had to work hard to defeat a gallant Wynyard. It was the second quarter, 20 – 8, that set up the victory for Penguin. Wynyard, however, outscored Penguin 21-16 in the last quarter. Bec Abel was the stand out player with a game high 22 points.

Burnie were far too strong for the young Smithton team. Hayley Shephard dominated the contest with 23 points.

Latrobe women certainly made Somerset earn the points. In a game that Somerset were expected to dominate, Latrobe were only down by 9 points at three quarter time. Sami Phillips used her experience to guide Somerset to victory.

In the game of the round, in front of a good crowd. Ulverstone after being down by 6 at half time took control in the second half to record a 4 point victory. Matt Zerna was the player of the match with 19 points, while Harry O’Neil continued his good form with 15 points.

Penguin men were far too strong for Wynyard. In a high standard game, Wynyard’s high turn-over rate let them down badly. Ryan Cook led all scorers with 24 points.

Burnie’s shooting from beyond the arc was a feature against Smithton. The highlight of the match was the contest within the paint between Hugh King and Kallum Paul.

Somerset had a good third quarter to be only 5 points down to the more fancied Latrobe team. Latrobe steadied in the last quarter to run out 16 points victors. Once again Brady Armstrong was the dominant player with a game high 24 points.

Preview Tuesday 18th Oct

Wynyard take on Ulverstone at home. It is a very important game for the Wynyard women, to increase their chance of making the finals. Wynyard will have to stop the offensive threat of Sarah O’Neill.

Ulverstone men should defeat Wynyard.

Penguin are at home to Smithton. The Penguin women will easily account for the young Smithton team.

If the Saints are at full strength and if they can stop Penguin’s ability to score beyond the three point line they have a slim chance of getting the points.

Latrobe have the short trip to Devonport. Devonport women will be far too strong for Latrobe.

In the men’s game, Latrobe will continue on their winning way. Devonport have improved greatly this roster, but do not have experience to match Latrobe.

Home team rivals, Burnie and Somerset clash at Burnie. Somerset women are in great form and will continue their winning form against Burnie.

Burnie men will have another percentage boosting game against Somerset.
