In the match of the round, Somerset women continued their good form to defeat Penguin in a high quality game. Penguin were able to stay in the contest with their ability to score beyond the arc. Somerset have now secured top spot with a very good percentage over Ulverstone. Both Bec Abel and Sami Phillips had standout games, each scoring 21 points.

Wynyard women had a comfortable win over Latrobe. In a low scoring game, Wynyard had a better shooting percentage and were able to dominate the rebounding. Brooke Brown was the standout player, top scoring with 23 points.

In the upset of the round, Burnie managed a convincing victory over Devonport women. In front of a disappointing crowd, Burnie took control in the second quarter to set up their win. Bec Heald continued her good season with a game high 17 points.

Ulverstone bounced back, to record a solid win over the young Saints women’s team. Sarah O’Neill was again the leading scorer with 19 points.

The Latrobe men were far too strong for the young Wildcats, they dominated inside the paint and shot at a very high percentage. Brayden Armstrong did his MVP chance no harm with another game high 26 points.

After a mid-season form slump, Burnie men’s current form, would indicate that they are definitely the team to beat once again. They completely outclassed Devonport with a 42 point victory. Tre Armstrong had a good game top scoring with 26 points.

In a high standard, fast paced game, with a good display of three point shooting. Ulverstone were able to get the points over Smithton. Brad Hardy led all scorers with 21 points, while young first player, Ulverstone’s Reyne Smith showed that he will be a future star with 19 points.

Preview Friday 14th Oct.

Ulverstone take on Devonport at home. If Devonport are at full strength this game will go down to the wire. Devonport need a win to keep in contact with fourth spot, while Ulverstone are still looking at the top spot on the ladder. Taylor Mole and Sarah O’Neill will be very important players for both teams.

Burnie have the road trip to Smithton. Burnie will start favourites in both games.

Somerset are at home to Latrobe. Somerset women will continue to build upon their percentage in the women’s game.

The Latrobe men will be too strong for Somerset.

Wynyard travel to Penguin. The women’s game will be a good indication to see how Wynyard’s current good form stands up against the high scoring Penguin team. Wynyard will need to focus on their defensive intensity if they are going to get the points.

Penguin should easily account for the young Wildcats men’s team.
