In front of a large crowd, Somerset women were too strong for the young Latrobe team. Somerset dominated the rebounding with Sami Phillips continuing her MVP form, scoring 32 points. Brooke Brown had a game high 38 points in a losing team.

Burnie were too strong for the very young Saints outfit. Smithton’s performance was not helped when Zebrina Tuaoi injured her knee in the first quarter. Rebecca Heald was the standout player scoring 16 points.

In the closest women’s game for the night, Ulverstone used their experience to wear down Devonport in a tough physical game in front of a large crowd. Devonport’s Taylor Mole continued her good form, top scoring with 18 points.

Penguin were made to earn their points against a determined young Wynyard team. A poor second quarter by Wynyard enable Penguin to develop a match winning lead. Rebecca Abel will be one of many MVP favourites, scoring 23 points.

In a good standard close game, Latrobe men drew away in the second half to earn the points against Somerset. Latrobe’s strength on the boards was the deciding factor.

As expected Burnie were convincing winners over a very young and gallant Saints team. In a very even team effort by the Tigers, Tre Armstrong showed that he will be one of the up and coming players in this roster.

Ulverstone dominated the first half against Devonport leading by 24 points at half time. To Devonport’s credit they fought back to only go down by 11 points.

The Penguin men have shown it will be one of the teams to beat this year with a convincing victory over Wynyard. Fraser Eaton was all class scoring a game high 31 points.
