This year’s U22 roster begins Tuesday night. As with previous years U22 rosters it will feature very close, fast paced and exciting games of basketball. Most clubs treat this roster as a chance to develop those players that get limited minutes in their senior NWBU team.

In the Women’s roster, Ulverstone who took out last year’s title will again start clear favourites. They have a very good mix of experienced players in Jessy Price, Kara Barker and Charlotte O’Neill plus a very good mix of talented younger players.

Penguin appears to be their biggest threat after taking out the State U18 title. Other teams that will push for a top four position will be Somerset and Devonport. However, any of the other 4 remaining teams have the ability to be playing finals. 

In the Men’s, Burnie is after a ‘three-peat’ performance. Boasting seven State players and Thunder player Joe Chilcott, rookie coach Brad Simpson certainly has a gifted squad to work with.

The team that is the biggest threat to stop the Tigers run, is last year’s runner-up Penguin. The Penguin squad is the same as their senior squad minus import Zac White. Although they do not have the same number of State players they have the experience of players like Thomas Guard, Brent Jones and Jaylen Beveridge. They have excellent chemistry as a team and have several players that can shoot the 3 at a high clip.

To start off the season it just happens that these two teams play against each other at Burnie on Tuesday night in what should be an outstanding game. Other teams that should push to make the finals will be, Devonport who took out the State U18 Championships, Latrobe, Ulverstone and Somerset.
