Paul represented Murray Bridge Bullets at many Country Championships over the years as a player and coach.

Paul played junior and senior district basketball for Forestville from 1980 to 1982 and in 1983 was in the first Murray Bridge Bullets Men’s team to play district basketball in Adelaide. Paul has played with many great players including Al Green, Dwayne Nelson and Ricky Simpson and against some of the legends of the game Mark Davis, Darryl Pearce, Peter Ali and Bill Jones.
