SHARKShave opened a four-point gap on top of the Geelong Basketball League Winter Championship women’s ladder after handing an understrength Dolphins a 79-30 hiding on Tuesday night at the Arena.

Again Alex Duck was the star, with the SEABL Lady Supercat scoring 33 points, while Georgia Varley contributed 17.

Lydia Gasparini was best for Dolphins with 11 points.

Pivot City kept alive its top four hopes with an 84-71 result against second-placed Rovers.

The foundation for Pivot’s sixth win of the season was laid in the first half, as they took a 52-34 lead into the main break.

Pivot duo Bianca Cheever (25 points) and Lauren Moloney (22) proved hard for Rovers to contain.

Kylie Morrissy worked hard for Rovers, finishing with 20 points.

Try Boys claimed just its second win of the season, beating Lara 71-55.

The Bears had four scorers in double figures, with Sarah De Grandi (19 points) and Katherine Brockett (18) important.

CHRISTIAN College posted one of the highest team scores in recent memory in a 121-63 hiding of Try Boys in GBL men’s action.

The Eagles held an eight-point lead at quarter-time, but blew the contest apart in the second period, outscoring the Bears 33-13.

Jackson Bentley continued his fine form with 39 points, including seven makes from outside the three-point arc.

Veteran big Marty De Lange was again a warrior for Try Boys, whose finals hopes were ended by the loss, scoring with 23 points.

YMCA maintained top spot with an 86-61 victory over Vytis.

The Varley brothers, Lewie (31 points) and Emerson (18 points) combined to make life tough for the Knights.

Rhys Lloyd was best for Vytis with 17 points, while talented big Lachie Headlam had 15.

Ash Cannan proved to be the difference in Pivot City’s 67-40 win over Rovers.

The star forward finished with 25 points in a dominant performance.

Simon Robertson and Cory Jones both scored 10 points for Rovers.

A 36-point effort from Big V Geelong star Anthony Kimble hasn’t been enough to stop Dolphins falling to Sharks, 84-67.

It was matched by 35 points from Dane Bow, however he received solid support from Craig Jarvis (19 points) and Jarryd Watene (14).
