YMCA has kept the pressure on Pivot City at the top of the Basketball Geelong division one ladder following Tuesday night’s 98-43 thrashing of the winless Dolphins.
With Pivot having the bye, Y took the chance to close the percentage gap between the two sides to less than 2%, thanks to contributions from big men Tristan Johnson (26 points), Lucas Kenny (22) and former Supercats’ skipper Jordan Hill (21).
Tryboys’ Bears consolidated its spot in the top four, staying four clear of Vytis, with a 110-58 belting of Lara.
The Knights, meanwhile, overcame the absence of key duo Steve Wiasak and Lachie Headlam, with a 14 point result against Sharks Black 64-50.
It was better news for Sharks Grey who had the better of Tigers 98-59, with young star Andre Garcey finishing with 29 points.
Christian College Eagles easily accounted for Try Boys 102-58, with six players scoring in double figures.
Rovers overcame the absence of MVP favourite Prue Kenny to hold top spot on the women’s ladder with a tough 51-48 victory over YMCA.
Lana Ryder-Kowalski (12 points) and Tania Du Plessis (11) led the way for Rovers, while Madi Koehler top scored for Y with 20.
Pivot City moved into a share of fourth spot with Sharks after a 58-33 hammering of Sharks, with Bianca Cheever (20 points) continuing to have an impact since returning from College.
Anisa Sijersic’s 18 points helped Try Boys to a 56-48 win over Rovers Hawks.
