Basketball Geelong Championship Wrap Round 12

Sharks kept alive their Basketball Geelong men’s championship top four hopes with a 78-67 win over YMCA.

Trailing 44-35 at the main break, Sharks dominated the second-half 43-23 to claim victory.

Dane Bow had 18 points for Sharks, while fellow former Supercat Kris Van Parreren was again best for Y with 19.

Vytis climbed to third on percentage with a 95-60 victory over Tigers.

Supercats’ rookie Lachie Headlam (29 points), Big V star Steve Wiasak (21) and Andy Przybylkiewicz (20) were the backbone of the Knights’ win.

Ben Scannell kept Tigers competitive with 30 points.

Rovers upset an under-strength Christian College White 105-89.

Andrew Tonkin impressed with 34 points, while Simon Robertson dropped 26.

Marcus Larcombe had 40 points, and veteran Keith Harrison 31, for the Eagles.

Nick Kent paced Pivot City with 28 points in its comfortable 72-42 win over Lara.

The match was effectively over as a contest at quarter-time after the Pivotonians opened with a 22-5 term.

Try Boys had no problems seeing off Dolphins 100-66.

All six players who hit the court for the Bears scored in double-figures, with Patrick Phillips taking scoring honours with 22 points.

Mikey Lesic returned to form for Dolphins with 28 points.

There were some one-sided results in the women’s competition, with 36 points the closest margin.

Pivot City maintained its perfect record with a 73-37 result against YMCA.

The Pivotonians led by just two points half-time, but went on a 47-13 spree in the second half.

Ana Marinovic again starred with 25 points, with Bianca Cheever adding 24.

Ash Hatton and Jana Van Parreren both had 10 for Y.

Rovers’ star Jess Watson almost single-handedly defeated Lara by herself, scoring 27 points in an 81-29 win.

Tarryn McPherson also impressed with 18 points.

Natalie Wallace was the Giants’ best with 10 points.

Try Boys handed an undermanned Dolphins a 72-15 hiding, with Katherine Brockett dominant in scoring 31 points.
