Basketball Geelong's Under 12 girls have returned home from the Future Stars Championships in Bendigo after three days of demanding basketball, finishing fourth.

Day one saw three big results for the undermanned Geelong team, a monster 65-2 win over Morwell to start the ball rolling followed by wins over Benalla 51-2 and the All Stars 47-6.

They continued their great form winning all three games on day two, including a memorable overtime victory to book an elimination final showdown with Portland on day three.

A 40-18 win early on Monday saw them set-up a semi-final clash with Mildura, unfortunately falling 42-22.

"We just ran out of petrol tickets in the end, after playing on the Friday night also," coach Craig Porte said.

“I was pretty impressed with what our girls did.”

"We went up there with three replacement girls because of injuries.”

“We didn’t expect to make the semi-finals and we hadn’t lost a game up until that match.”

All 10 girls found game time in each of the eight matches, including the three new girls who did their best to adapt to the game style.

Geelong, along with Moe were the only association's to have both Under 12 teams feature in the top four after Geelong's boys took out their division.

The boys have secured an invitation to the National Classic on the Queens Birthday weekend, while the girls are still hoping to be invited.

The team: Allie Biggs, Kayla Biggs, Kiarne Bourke, Zali Havelberg, Neve Horvat, Zoe McKeegan, Gemma Morison, Amelia Porte, Georgia Purcell, Emma Wilkinson
