VYTIS claimed the final spot in the Basketball Geelong men’s championship playoffs with a 100-80 win over Christian College White in Tuesday night’s virtual elimination final.

Fresh from being part of Geelong’s Big V division one men’s title, Steve Wiasak inspired the Knights to victory with a 27 point haul.

Michael Rebula was also important for Vytis with 19 points, while Marcus Larcombe (24 points) and Keith Harrison (21) did all they could to get the Eagles into another top four finish.

An undermanned Pivot City claimed the minor premiership, but not before being made to work for a 63-52 win over Dolphins.

Nick Kent dropped 14 of his 27 points in the final quarter to help get the Pivotonians home.

Ben McCawley was best for Dolphins with 18 points.

Try Boys warmed up for its major semi-final meet with Pivot City by beating fellow finalists YMCA 70-55.

Paul Hutchison showed no ill-effects of Big V championship celebrations, finishing with 26 points, including 24 after the main break, including six three’s.

A relatively subdued Jordan Hill led Y with 16 points.

Tigers ended a solid season in fine style, handing Christian College Silver a 115-43 hiding.

Ben Scannell (34 points), playing coach Simon Evans (29) and big man Griffin Errey (20) made the most of an undermanned Silver line-up.

Missing star scorer Tim King, Michael Dunlop was their best with 13 points.

A Brett Goodgame-inspired Rovers consigned Lara to a winless season, as his side cruised to a 77-52 win.

The former Ballarat star had 31 points, including 22 after half-time.

Brenton Walker tried hard for the Giants with 23 points.

MEANWHILE Dolphins secured a finals berth in its debut season in women’s championship with a 78-56 win over Sharks.

Lady Supercats’ point guard Cortney Williamson exploded for 37 points, including 21 in the second half, as Dolphins outscored 78-56 over the final two quarters.

Sharon Ford had 18 points for Sharks, who missed the finals by a point.

Rovers held onto fourth spot despite a 77-55 loss to Try Boys.

Anna Teague had a game-high 28 points for the Bears, while Elise Flynn (21 points) and Anisa Sijersic (17) provided the support.

Jemma Barns (14 points) and Jess Watson (13) were best for Rovers.

YMCA avoided the wooden spoon with a narrow 48-45 result against Lara.

Kathy Mallon was the star for Y with 17 points, while Caitlin Shadbolt had 13 for the Giants, who ended the season with the unwanted kitchen utensil.
