Western Australian, Sarah Forbes to be Inducted into the
University of Maryland Hall of Fame
Western Australian Lacrosse champion Sarah Forbes, has been selected for the Class of 2012 induction to the University of Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame, the athletics department and ‘M’ Club officials announced Friday. Sarah is one of eight outstanding alumni to receive this tremendous accolade.
Forbes will be inducted on Friday, October 5 at a ceremony at Riggs Alumni Center in the USA.
Since graduating from Maryland, Sarah has gone on to play in numerous Australian National Championships, play and Captain in the 2001, 2005 and 2009 Australian National team, won the 2005 World Championship, received the Wes Patterson Spirit of Lacrosse award for the player of the tournament (MVP) and was named in the World team . She currently is coaching and playing at her home club Wembley. Sarah is also a member of the Australian National Squad and was last week again selected in the Western Australian Women’s team competing at the National Championships in her home town on Perth, Western Australia in October.
Australian team mate and international lacrosse hero Jen Adams from South Australia was also nominated for the University of Maryland Hall of Fame.
Early in 2006 both players were named in the USA's National Collegiate Athletic Association's 25-year anniversary team of women's lacrosse all-time greats. Sarah and Jen were two the Australians in the 12-player team.

SARAH FORBES (Women’s Lacrosse, Class of ‘97)
Three-time All-American and four-year starter for the Terrapins… A member of three national championship teams and one national runner-up squad at Maryland in her four seasons… National Offensive Player of the Year as a senior and ACC Female Athlete of the Year… Scored a team-high 58 goals in 1997 to lead the Terps to the NCAA title… Selected to the NCAA All-Tournament team in 1996 and 1997… Still sits ninth in single-season assists with 94 in 1997… An Australian native who graduated with a degree in marine biology.
