Shot Clock Rules

An early release of the rules for the 2013 SA Junior Championships indicated that the rule which requires the shot clock to be reset to 14 seconds will not be applied.

This is not the case. The rule will be applied as written in the 2012 FIBA rules, and as applied in the SA District competition.

The full text of the SA Junior Championships rule regarding the 24 second shot clock is as follows:

In Under 12 and 14 Divisions the 24 second shot clock does not start until the ball is in the front court. All other age groups shall implement the 24 second shot clock rule as per the FIBA rules.

In Under 14, 16 and 18 State games, an electronic shot clock shall be used where available. In other divisions, the rule shall be managed by the officials.
