The final Patagonoa Cup team trial was held Sunday 29th September at Cowles stadium.

This is the first time the tournament has been held for basektball but HSOB Rugby have been playing in the Rugby equivillent since 1999.

The team features a mix of younger players like Matt Campbell (NZ U20, Saints squad), Nick Erwood (Cant U23), Chris "Rusty Tompson (Cougars squad), Joel Stratford, Oli Davies and Kieran Ball (Cant Age group). Also those that have had a taste of NBL in Marty Davison(Rams, Cougars Heat), Sam Crozier (Cougars)and Brent Fisher (Rams) and some NBL veterans in Nat Connell (Rams,Titans, Heat, Nuggets) Dean LeWarne (Rams Cougars)and Lionel Hopgood (Rams, Cougars) 

"We will play teams from the Federal A league which is the 3rd level down from the world class professionsl level league so we need to be prepared for a similar level to our domestic NBL" said Assistant Coach Terry Brunel.

Head Coach, Bert Knops was confident that the team would gel well together based on their willingness to share the ball and ability to quickly catch on to some offensive structures introduced at the trial. Only 10 players will travel to Argentina 13 - 28 February so the squad will be trimmed accordingly in the next couple of weeks but the reserve players will continue to train as cover.
