BBNZ had proposed, as part of the All of Basketball Plan, to have a Club Nationals at the end of the season starting 2013.  Unfortunately we have not been able to secure a host, venue or funding for 2013. 

 

It has now been decided that we will not have a 2013 event but rather will wait to launch an initiative in 2014 for the following reasons; we want to:

-          create and launch a great event that fits with a long term strategy for adult basketball.

-          design something that captures some of the good aspects of the old ‘Div 2 and Div 3’s’, ideas from some about a ‘NPC’ as well as provide some meaning for the developing (re‑developing) concept of clubs.

-          consider how a ‘Club Nationals’ will help/fit with the emerging club concept within Associations.

-          target a number of Local Councils to see if any will help fund the event (we haven’t yet as we need to develop the concept before we can sell it).

-          work ideas through with basketballers before we design anything.

 

We are short on time to do all of the above as well as develop the event in the way we want.

 

We realise this will cause some disappointment for some.  We are sorry that we haven’t been able to design and implement anything for this year.  However we will announce what the 2014 event will look like within a few months so everyone will have plenty of time to prepare for it.  We will make an announcement before the end of October.
