U14 & U22 SDL Game Report and Stats
SDL Tuesday U14 and U22
The first of the SDL leagues began on Tuesday with the U14 boys and the U22 men. Both groups had reduced numbers due to school related events but we managed to get all games played in round 1.
In the U14 SDL the Navy team lead by 28 points from Quinn Clinton took advantage of the White teams lack of size to record a 78 – 55 win. Clinton distributed the ball in a dominant performance as well as leading the scoring for his team. Jake Beaven had 16 and Mitchell Mahon had 15points. For the White team bottom ager Conner McLaughlin had 25 points and Kane Greenfield 10.
In the other game Blue beat Red 76 – 65 behind 33 points from Ben Harris who also dominated the boards with Isaac Gilpin getting 16points and Reuben Stanley 8. For the Red team North Canterbury transfer Jaiden Manera has 26 Zac Walker 12 and Andrew Nicholson 12. Congratulations to week One SDL U14 player of the week Ben Harris 33 points.
In the U22 men the Red team lead by Taylor Britt (19points) and George Love (19 Points) started well but we over run by the superior team play of the Blue team lead by the Campbell’s, Harley (22) and Nathan (22). The game was a race track affair with end to end action and some nice basket cuts from the Blue squad for easy layups. Red toiled hard but could not get the lead under double digits and eventually lost ground trying. Other scorers were Red: Jahnim Cambell 11, Ryan Jones 6, Matthew Brown 5 and Stu Erskine 2, Blue Bryn McLennon 10, Alex Irvine 10, Issac Moody 8 and Zac deRoo 6 Final Score Blue 78 – Red 61
In the other game the five man White team defeated the Navy team 74 – 63 with Oli Davies and James Cawthorn accounting for 52 of the teams points. Davies went 13/28 for his 28 points but also grabed 11 rebounds and added 4 assist while Cawthorn was 8/20 for his 24. Hitesh Pratap grabbed 16 boards to go with his 16 points in an impressive double double. For the Navy team Kieran Ball had 24 points and 8 boards while Nick Erwood had 18 points and 14 rebounds.
