Weekend Grand Finals Day Draw

Good luck this weekend, and remember to share/tag/comment on any exciting plays on Glory League so I can find the best highlights a little more easily to collate! If your team is on duty, please make sure you are tagging as accurately as possible – I’ve noticed a few games where no missed shots at all have been tagged, and another where random players were given the points for their team. This is our official record of games, which does have information passed on to news outlets based off of the information we see.

The technique to do correctly score: tap on the screen as soon as a shot goes up in the appropriate area if the court, caller then says “Make/Miss, Number XX” and scorer hits red or green and correct number accordingly).

A couple of teething issues that need correcting/noting:

Skins – I made a mistake with the published match rules online, these are now updated to reflect the following change (in Article 3.7):

  • Full leg compression stockings are allowed in grades listed in our Participation Pathway (see diagram in Article 7.5), as long as they match the main colour of the uniform or are black or white. Players taking the court in Development Pathway Grades must adhere to FIBA rules regarding uniforms, and as such leg compression stockings are not permitted to cover the knee in these grades (see FIBA rule Book Article 4.4.2).

Celebration Lions Gym – with this still being developed each week (new, brighter lights have been installed, scoreboards coming in June, as well as an outdoor toilet block) we’re still working through some of the ways we can make this better:

  • To help reduce the amount of dust and dirt making its way into the building, nobody is permitted on the courts except for the two teams playing (i.e. no younger siblings to go and shoot during timeouts, or between games). There is an outdoor court on the site which is available for anyone’s use (click here for exact location.
  • All cars are to now be parked on the concrete area (not on the dirt) - the Dolamore Street Gate is now being opened to help facilitate this

If you are interested in having a go at refereeing (or someone in your team/club is) please contact Carol Bathurst (referees@canterburybasketball.co.nz) and she will assign an appropriate game to start.

Glory League – make sure to share any highlights from your games – we look through the most viewed/shared for clips that may interest the wider community. If there’s something especially cool that happened in your game please send us a facebook message, or an email to me, with the details (time, game etc)

If you have any players or interested people that want to be included on the draw emails, please advise james and we will do that.

Club contacts have received the list of unfinancial players – a reminder that if an ineligible player takes the court, that game will be forfeited.
