Basketball New Zealand Inc
Basketball New Zealand is the national body for basketball in New Zealand. It is responsible for New Zealand’s national and international activities and commitments and works with its member Associations to develop, promote and foster basketball across New Zealand.
Applications are invited for two positions on the Board of Directors. Under the constitution two Directors terms end by rotation annually – one elected and one appointed. This requirement has created one vacancy and the elected incumbent has indicated they will seek re-election. The remaining vacancy results from a previously appointed member resigning.
Both are volunteer positions, responsible for setting the strategic direction of basketball, national budgets and finance, meeting international obligations and monitoring progress against the All of Basketball Plan. The Board meets approximately eight times per annum, usually in Wellington.
A Board Appointment Panel will be assessing candidates against a range of criteria including:
Clear understanding of Governance functions and principles
Knowledge of and/or interest in basketball
Knowledge of how community based or sporting programmes are run
Occupational skills that add value to the Board business
A strong network across the business and /or basketball community
