Community Development Officer

Basketball Hawkes Bay (BBHB) is seeking a highly motivated, team orientated individual to join our staff. The role involves coordinating and delivering our In School Coaching programmes and School Holiday Basketball camps as well as developing grass roots Basketball Coaches.

BBHB delivers basketball programmes in the region from Wairoa through Napier and Hastings to Central Hawkes Bay in the South and has over 3000 registered players per annum. We have up to 300 teams playing in BBHB organised competitions each week. Each year we have between 8 and 12 age group representative teams and provide in school coaching services to around 2000 students.

Whilst this position is largely delivery based the successful candidate will also have savvy computing skills to cope with the administrative load of planning and delivering basketball to our community. Initially the position is 30 hours per week but could become a full time role. The successful candidate will be based at the Basketball Hawkes Bay Office in Marewa, Napier.

Candidates must possess strong organisational, planning and administration skills as well as an ability to communicate effectively. Basketball Coaching experience and an affinity to work with youth is a must. Computer skills are essential.
