Morgan Maskell joins BBHB Staff

Basketball Hawkes Bay is extremely pleased to officially announce the arrival of Morgan Maskell who has recently joined the Basketball Hawkes Bay staff as our new Basketball Coordinator. The newly established role sees Morgan completing the coordination of all local basketball competitions, which can involve as many as 300 teams per week. Morgan will also be coordinating our player and coach development programmes; this involves Morgan working with our Representative Programme where he has an abundance of experience and a history of success. Morgan comes to us from a full-time administration & communications role with North Harbour Hockey where he coordinated competitions and social media for them.

Morgan is no stranger to getting results in the game of basketball. His real passion for the game belongs with basketball coaching and player development. Morgan gives a lot to the game of basketball both at the high performance and development levels; and has coached both males & females. Highlights of the past 24 months for Morgan include:

• 2017 Aon New Zealand Under 16 Boys Assistant Coach
• 2017 Aon New Zealand Under 16 Boys Select Head Coach
• 2016 New Zealand Under 16 Girls Assistant Coach
• 2016 National Championship with Harbour U17 Boys
• Junior Breakers Academy Assistant Coach 2016 & 2017

Basketball Hawkes Bay is excited about the wide variety of experience Morgan is able to bring to the role. He is very well versed in the New Zealand Basketball landscape and has much to offer Hawkes Bay as we continue to grow and develop our game. Morgan has previously been associated with a successful school programme at Rangitoto College winning titles at boys Zone 1&2 Junior Premierships in 2013 & 2014; and assisted the Girls Senior team in 2016. He has been on the Koru tour, winning the Australia Junior Country Cup for the NZ U14 Boys Korus team in 2015.

Excited about his new role, Morgan told us: “I’m excited about the opportunity to meet a new basketball community. I’m really looking forward to all the things I can learn from working with all the basketball players & families in the Bay”.

Please welcome Morgan to the Bay as you see him around the courts!
