The Hawks go 2 and 0
On Saturday in Palmerston North the HBS Bank Hawks put away the Palmerston North Jets by 99 to 85. The team had chances to put the Jets away before half time but some puzzling calls let the Jets back into the game. The Hawks pulled away in the final quarter by lifting the game tempo. Josh Pace 33, Arthur Trousdell 23, Paora Winitana 14 and Jarrod Kenny 12
In Taradale the HBS Bank Hawks have blown the Airs out in the fourth quarter for 82-65 victory. After a slow start first half Hawks import Josh Pace scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half. Paora Winitana also having a good performance for his home province with 19 points.
Airs came out with great defensive intensity in the first half restricting the homeside to a low thirty points shooting a horrible 29% from the field (12/41 FG).
After a two year absence vetaran Airs big man Link Abrams again showed his class scoring 10 of his 14 points in the first half.
Airs leading at half time 37-30. But they could not contain the Hawks in the second half allowing them to score 52 points.
Shooting guard Jack Leasure top scoring for the Airs with 19, while their new import Marcus Campbell 11 points in 26 minutes of action.
Hawks only other player to hit the double figure mark was Arthur Trousdell who had 12 points and 9 rebounds.
Hawks will now have to travel down to Palmerston North to play the McDonalds Manawatu Jets tomorrow night in what should be a intense game.
