Sign On Day - 6th & 7th February
Some hints and suggestions on how to retain current players and recruit new players.
1. Keep in touch with players during off season - mailing list, newsletters, fun nights, club functions.
2. Clubs to have best possible coaching staff available. Don't wait for season to start before appointing coaches.
3. Send letters to past players. Coacg to follow up with ring around. Don't forget players who may have given footy away the previous year (see AFLBJ for list).
4. Advertise sign on in school newsletters and on school websites (first day of school 27th January).
5. Arrange article in local Newspapers and other local publications.
6. Arrange local letterbox drop with sign on details.
7. Put up promotional posters in your area (e.g. schools, shopping centres, vacation centres, etc.).
8. Shopping Centre Promotions - arrange with Shopping Centre Manager (Handball targets are available to conduct activities).
9. Send letters/email to last years participants (also participants from year before that).
10. Send letters/email to auskick participants within your immediate catchment area - ask if you require database of participants.
11. Junior coaches to make an effort to get to know Auskick participants, encourage them to play following season.
12. After sign on - arrange for your first or second training sessions to be 'bring a friend night' (e.g. friend to participate in training). Provide incentive for friend to attend and possibly sign on.
