Sunday 19th July heralds a return to Collingwood Park Powerâs ground for an under 16s home game (vs Bribie Island). Whilst the Power u16s have formed a successfully merger with Calamvale leopards for season 2009, five of the power contingent have now passed major game milestones.
An amazing combined tally of 650 BJ games of experience exists between 5 players; Ben Timms (150 BJ games), Josh Sheldrick (150 BJ games), Jacob Simmons-Bliss (150 BJ Games), Andrew Coombs (100 BJ Games), and Jesse Koning (100 BJ Games).
Rex Watts (President of Power JAFC) has said âitâs rewarding (from a president and coach perspective) to see the dedication and loyalty displayed by these 5 young men to the club and to Aussie Rules football in generalâ. Rex also went on to say âThese guys have stuck with the club through thick and thin, they are always available to help out around the club, they mentor the younger players, and are developing into fine young menâ. When asking player Andrew Coombs why he has stuck with the club after all these years, Andrew said âI just want to play footy at my club with my mates, thatâs whatâs most important to meâ
