State Coaching Opportunities
State Coaches, Selectors  & Team Managers for the 2009
U16, U/18 & U/20 Victorian Metro State Program

The Victorian Junior Basketball League would like to invite applications for persons interested in one of the following positions for one of the age groups:-

Head Coach – Men
Head Coach – Women

Assistant Coach- Men
Assistant Coach- Women

Development Coach- Men
Development Coach- Women

Selector Position – Men
Selector Position - Women

Team Manager- Men
Team Manager- Women

 

KEY DUTIES FOR COACHING STAFF

  • Liaise with the ITCP Head Coach on available players
  • Provide Leadership and Direction to Assistant Coaches
  • To Organise training venues for preparation phase
  • Attend all training sessions
  • Ensure all team members and staff, are aware of all training and activities
  • Prepare team Try-Outs
  • Liaise with VJBL and Basketball Victoria staff on a regular basis
  • Select team in consultation with Assistant Coaches and Selectors
  • Select and announce the 10 Players and up to 3 Emergencies, who will compete at the Australian Championships
  • Provide feedback to associations in regards to players progress       

 Key Duties for the Team Managers:

  • To work along side the coaches to prepare players for the championships
  • Liaise with VJBL and Basketball Victoria staff on a range of issues such as budget, travel arrangements, uniforms, player and staff paperwork etc
  • Organise Player agreement forms
  • Organise Players Uniforms: Washing and preparation of uniforms.
  • In consultation with Basketball Victoria, organise ground transfers and accommodation for the squad
  • Organise the players food and drinks for the duration of the event
  • Keep detailed financial records of income and expenditure

 Event Dates are as follows:

U20– Feb 15-22, 2009

U18 – April 18-25, 2009

U16 – July 11-18, 2009

All Head Coach applicants who are invited to attend an interview will be required to present a detailed plan to the selection panel.
