Black Rock earned a place in the Division Three grand final with a comprehensive 76-point victory over Canterbury in the preliminary final at
Mordialloc. The Rockers, who have come from third place, increased their lead slightly at each break to hold a handy 33-point advantage at three-quarter-time. However, they were awesome in the final term, slamming home nine goals to two to head into next week's grand final against Mt. Waverley with a very real chance. They had winners on every line, with bustling defender-come-forward Andrew
Higgins and speedy midfielder Kelly Spratt in outstanding form. The nippy Mick Ferwerda and hard-nut Daniel Agostino were in everything all day for the Rockers, with opportunist Tim Wilmott and forward Alan Brudar also doing well. Spratt and Ferwerda shared the goalkicking honours with three apiece, while Brudar, Brett Miller and Higgins each snared two. Canterbury's better players included David Fox, Leigh Nelson and Josh Tate, with Shane Jenkins, Scott manks and Michael Kruger also coming under notice.
In the reserves, Doveton Eagles accounted for Dandenong Demons by 20 points to set up a grand final clash with Skye
