The Oceania National Olympic Committee (ONOC) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has commended the National Olympic Committee of the Solomon Islands (NOCSI) for steering a way to good governance.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary General of NOCSI, Naoyuki Fujiyama, the IOC and ONOC appreciated the way NOCSI made efforts to sort itself out.
“First of all, we would like to express our appreciation for all efforts made by the National Olympic Committee of the Solomon Islands so far to rectify the confusing situation which has been prevailing over the past years”.
According to a statement from NOCSI, as a result of what NOCSI has done and is doing to bring NOCSI into full compliance of IOC requirements, the IOC has commenced paying funds into NOCSI.
This includes funds to rent a proper office by January 2013.
NOCSI is determined to be a role model in terms of organization, planning and implementation.
NOCSI then urges all national sports federations to join in the momentum and do proper planning for its program.
According to a statement from NOCSI, no longer should NFs run sports as in the village.
“They must organize themselves.
“NF leaders should be honest and tell their members if they are not responsible and are lazy they should hand over the baton to others,” it stated.
