This update is brought to you vi the TELECOM COOK ISLANDS UPDATE.
Yesterday we saw 2 of our athletes on the track, first we had Pat Taea in the Women’s 100m which was at 11am, Pat ran her heat and was 2nd which qualified her for the finals which was run at 4pm. Pat was up against the top runners in the Pacific, however she ran a great race and was placed 5th placing and she set a new record of 12.29 sec, previous record was 12.36 sec. At games we can only do our best and ding our best is great when you end up setting a record and bettering your personal best.
Young Alex Beddoes ran his race the 800m shortly after Pat about 11.15am, and like Pat’s race he was up against the top runners within the Pacific, Alex was placed 5th overall with a time of 1.58 min, Alex PB for this event is 1.54 min, it was hot very hot and humid at the same time. Today Alex will be running the 1500m at 2.30pm our time which is your 4.30pm. Again the lineup for the 1500m is top runners from the Pacific…
Teau McKinzie was out on the water today winning her first in the Pacific Mini Games Race and 3rd in the Oceania Race, Oceania and Pacific Mini Games is running side by side, this events is a qualified for the World Champs. Teau has 10 races to complete with 9 more to go. Jnr and Taua will be on the water today racing in this morning with 2 races, and Teau racing in the afternoon. Boys have 10 more races to go.
Luisa Peters will be lifting today at 3pm, there are only 3 lifters in her category which is the 75kg+ class, this sport is a mind game, and if she dose it right she could be in for a Gold.
Yesterday weather was hot and overcast with showers, today it has been forecast the same, so we are getting our team to drink water, lots of it as the humidity is high also…
