YOUNG BLOOD AND CALIBURN AWARDS
Nominations are being called for the Young Blood Award and
the Caliburn Award, two of the major awards to be presented at the Fencing
Victoria Presentation Night (along with Junior & Senior Fencer of the Year,
Male & Female, Novice & Veteran Fencer of the Year - which are purely
results based).
The Young Blood Award is for the Victorian affiliated
fencer who is under 26 (as at the start of the calendar year) and has shown
significant improvement in fencing skill, principally through their State,
National and/or International results, and who is an outstanding role model for
younger fencers through their contribution to Victorian fencing and the
Victorian fencing community.
The Caliburn Award is awarded to 'the
Victorian affiliated fencer, accredited coach, referee or volunteer who (i) has
made an outstanding contribution to Victorian fencing and the Victorian fencing
community, (ii) consistently displays good character, integrity and a
non-political attitude; and (iii) inspires others in the Victorian fencing
community'.
Is there someone in your club who deserves recognition for
their efforts and contribution to fencing in Victoria? Please take the time to
write a nomination, so the Victorian fencing community can acknowledge them. To
nominate, set out how you think this person meets the criteria of the Young
Blood or Caliburn award and email this to Simon Auty - president@fencingvictoria.org
Nominations will close on Wednesday 25 March.
